AKWESASNE-— The first community meeting to present and discuss the Draft Residency Ordinance will be held on Wednesday, Enniska/February 6, 2019 at 5:00PM in the Tribe’s new administration building which is located at 71 Margaret Terrance Memorial Way.
The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe will have two meetings regarding the Draft Residency Ordinance, and attendees are urged to give feedback.
A second meeting will follow on Wednesday, Enniska/February 20, 2019 at the same time and location. Subsequent meetings will be scheduled should the need arise.
The draft ordinance follows a two-year long consultation process that included a community survey completed by only 1,204 tribal members; with approximately 72% supporting the development of a Residency Law.
Meeting attendees will receive a summary of the Draft Residency Ordinance, as well as a detailed PowerPoint presentation. Prior to the initial meeting, Ordinance information will be available through the Tribal Members Portal located on the Tribe’s website at www.srmt-nsn.gov.
