The body of 50-year-old Kenny Leaf has been found in Akwesasne near Saint Regis Island.
According to a press release issued by the investigation team from the Surete du Quebec(SQ) Crimes Against the Person Investigation Service, in collaboration with the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service(AMPS) and the Saint Regis Tribal Police, officials spent several days this week investigating what is now being called a homicide, when the discovery of human remains were found near Saint Regis Island on July 26th, 2018 in Akwesasne.
The investigation concluded the victim is Leaf who had been missing since mid January 2018.
Investigators from the different police services have been working together to identify the perpetrator of this crime and the case remains open.
Akwesasne TV has been following the story for months, interviewing authorities and also Leaf’s family members who were hopeful that he would be found. In March, Leaf’s family pressed the AMPS to do more to help resolve the disappearance of the father of six.
