On April 25, 2016, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) responded to a call at a Kanatakon residence where they found an unresponsive woman in the bedroom of the home. Tammy P. Oakes, 40, of Akwesasne was transported to the Hospital in Ormstown, QC, and was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
Details of Ms. Oakes death are unknown at this time, and the AMPS believe there are no suspicious circumstances involved with her death. More details will become available after a post mortem examination is completed. AMPS would like to ensure the community that there is no threat to the general public.
