June Tribal Meeting Highlights
Last Saturday, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe held its monthly meeting for June at the Ionkwakiohkwaróron building, chaired by Sub-Chief Benjamin Herne.
The Tribal Council provided updates on several important topics such as the second Elders Benefit distribution ,the New York State land claim, and the Tewathahon:ni community meeting. The tribal meeting recording can be accessed on the portal, but the June 5th Tewathahon:ni meeting recording can only be requested from the Office of Boards and Commissions.
Congratulations to Chief-Elect, Tribal Clerk, and Sub-Chief
In other Tribal news, a special congratulations to Chief-Elect Donald Thompson Jr., Tribal Clerk Summer Bero, and Tribal Sub-Chief Benjamin Herne for their successful campaigns in this year’s Tribal election. Additionally, a heartfelt Niá:wen Kowa to Ron Lafrance for his years of service and dedication to the Akwesasne community, and for the support he has shown during the previous term.
