The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service has laid aggravated assault charges against three men after a man was beaten inside his home this past Sunday, February 11, 2018.   The Akwesasne Mohawk Police were called to investigate a situation where a man had arrived at a residence late in the afternoon showing signs of obvious injuries.

When police responded to investigate, they found drops of blood leading into the residence, which assisted police in determining that the man suffered his injuries elsewhere. It was confirmed that the man had been attacked and beaten inside his home; he was able to fight off his attackers and escape to this location.

Limited information was formed upon initial contact with the victim who was transported to a hospital for treatment of his wounds.

Eventually, investigators identified that the attack began in the morning hours; three subjects forced their way into the home and assaulted the victim with weapons until he was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s home.

Arrest warrants have been authorized by the Provincial Court of Valleyfield, Quebec for the arrests of the three men: Corby Jock 31, and Johnny Adams, 30, both of Akwesasne, and Mitchell Jocko, 37, of Cornwall, Ontario. The three men face charges of Aggravated Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Forcible Confinement and Uttering Death Threats.

Chief of Police Shawn Dulude said that this occurrence causes a real concern for community safety and he is hopeful that the public will continue to provide cooperation in such incidents.

“We are very fortunate that we received much cooperation from the community,” he said.  “ It sends a strong message that crime against people and property will not be tolerated.”

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police advise the public that if any of these wanted persons are seen in the community or if anyone should anyone know their whereabouts, to call the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service at 613-575-2000 or the Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers 613-937-8477.

The Chief of Police acknowledged that the community is going through a difficult time with the ongoing investigation of two missing persons.

“It’s been a very difficult time here,” he said.  “We will continue to investigate and follow up every lead.”

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police are continuing their efforts in locating Kenny Leaf, age 51, and Donald “Do” Johnson, age 31. Police request anyone with information that could help locate the missing persons or any information into any criminal matter, to please call law enforcement.
